I am now offering mentorships! It's something I am truly pouring my heart into, and along with teaching my class at ClickAway this year, it's something I can't wait to do. This dives into everything I have done (or rather, maybe should have done or took waaay too long to figure out how to do right) along the way and it's about telling stories through photographs, most important of which starts with YOUR story.
Photography is all you want to do, right? And that's probably a serious understatement because there aren't actual words to describe how you feel about it. Sometimes you forget daily tasks, or maybe sometimes you don't forget them, you just pretend to. Your friends and family know when to stop the car because whatever they're seeing is so "you", and they know you're going to beg them to stop anyway. And they don't ask questions when you hover around the bathroom window at 8 AM taking pictures because that's when the most beautiful light pours in.
But maybe somewhere along the way your voice got lost, or muffled by all of the noise of comparison, expectations, social media and blogs and Pinterest. Or maybe you never realized you had a voice in the first place, something that says "Here I am, this is how I see things and it matters".
There are constants in our lives - things we have always done, people we have always been - and it's not just about how we shoot or with what gear, it's about how we look at the world and what we are drawn to in life that makes each person unique. Everything that has happened in your life -- for the good and the bad -- shapes the way you SEE things, and no one else can replicate that. So no more hiding it.
There's a reason why you picked up a camera in the first place, whether it was at 8 years old or last month. Maybe you don't quite know why, or maybe you do. Each mentorship with me is one-on-one, three weeks of letting go, creating a safe place to relax, experiment, try crazy shit you've always wanted to try. Finding inspiration from music and books and podcasts and artists and allowing it all to soak in. It's learning how to connect with others, finding your own story, and refining your work with the story of others. Setting goals and creating personal projects. It's feeling a lot of feels.
If you've made it this far - awesome - because I am giving away a mentorship to start this whole thing off. Leave a comment below by Wednesday, June 10th and I'll randomly select one person to work with me starting the week of June 29th. And for anyone interested who doesn't get selected, I'm offering $50 off the first booked mentorship.
So...here we go!
Mentoring sessions are $475.00 and last three weeks with an extra follow-up week one month after the original session. Using manual settings on your camera is not required, but it is recommended.
